What are the side effects of the procedure

• bleeding and cramping. Most people may expect rather significant bleeding with this method, and it’s common to pass some large clots. Bleeding can linger for a few days or weeks and range in intensity from a slight flow or spotting to more intense bleeding, similar to a period. However, if you do not begin bleeding within 24 hours or if you are soaking through two or more pads per hour for two hours in a row, please get in touch with AWC immediately.
• Cramps are frequent with this type of removing and can be much worse than a period. Painkillers will be prescribed by us.
• nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and weakness. On rare occasions, these symptoms could indicate a negative reaction to the abortion termination. Call our clinic immediately if, more than 24 hours after taking safe abortion, you have nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or weakness, along with or without fever or stomach pain. It may be normal to have a temperature of 101° F or higher after started the process. Your temperature should subside around an hour after the bleeding starts. Drink plenty of liquids. If your temperature does not go down within three hours, give the clinic a call. If, after day 4, you get a temperature over 100.4° F, please call our office immediately.
• A follow-up appointment. Seven to ten days after your first visit, AWC will perform a second vaginal ultrasound. About one percent of women who utilize the procedure will not terminate their pregnancies, and two to three percent will still have pregnancy tissue in their uterus at the time of their follow-up visit. Following the completion of the procedure, you will discuss your options and future care. If you are still pregnant, you will most likely need surgery to complete the abortion.

Bleeding ranges from none at all to a light or moderate flow, which may stop and then start again. Some signs of pregnancy, such as nausea, usually get better in a day or two, while others, including breast tenderness, may take a week or two.

You may also be advised to rest and to avoid heavy lifting and strenuous exercise. Self-care is important, but work, school and family circumstances may make some recommendations unrealistic.

In addition, no studies have shown that these activities actually increase the risk of complications after abortion. The best guide is to listen to your body and use common sense.
